Something that started as her own project to help those in the earthquake and now it has blossomed into something with more than 90 people participating all over the world! The kindness of strangers can be truly inspiring. Purchase your goods on March 30th!
Tuesday Travel:

I wish Phoenix always smelled like orange blossoms. That and the 75-degree weather we had all weekend makes it worthwhile to live in this desert.

Tuesday Travel: London

Last week I was privileged enough to travel to London for work. I have been there a few times before so have done all the tourist sites. It was a whirlwind trip but I was able to fit in a few new things off the beaten path. Here are some of my favorites:

Going to Greenwich and seeing the Prime Meridian of the World. It was this crazy green laser beam going across the sky which signals the official starting point for each new day and year.
The Legally Blonde broadway show at the Savoy. Yes, I admit to seeing this. And I have to say after seeing most Broadway shows out there in NYC, Legally Blonde exceeded my expectations and was so much fun. I highly recommend. And the theater was amazing. I even dragged along a friend who was not so interested and after the show she couldn't stop singing, she loved it!
Design Museum London which has this amazing exhibit about 20th and 21st fashion illustration. One of my favorite exhibits I have ever seen. They also had on display all the the British Design Awards from last year....everything from clothing, chairs, architecture, bicycles, etc. Pretty darn cool. And the walk to get there had some up-close views of the London Bridge.
Borough Market...a food lover heaven. Fresh produce, meats, cheeses, breads, oils, and the most delicious chocolate mousse on the planet! So many obscure things and smells to experience.
Dinner at Wahaca. Of course being from Phoenix, I chose to test out Mexican food in the UK, a risk I know but this place was outstanding! Delicious margaritas, pork pibil to die for and upbeat interiors that kept you looking around.

Thursday Tidbit: Grilled Cheese

I think grilled cheese sandwiches are a food sent down from heaven. Seriously, one of my favorite foods. So when I saw this cookbook, Grilled Cheese, Please! I think I started drooling and have decided I need it...as soon as possible. You probably don't really need a cookbook concerning grilled cheeses but I love them that much. As seen via ReadyMade.

Thursdays seem to more often than not concern food, so it is not surprise that this week I am highlighting St. Francis in Phoenix. And my favorite thing on their winter menu is by far the pumpkin soup. Literally, heaven on Earth, life-changing, I-dream-about-it delicious soup. And tonight they just so happened to have it! What a relief, my day was instantly better the first spoonful of silky soup paired with pomegranate seeds and croutons. Need I say more?

I recently went to Las Vegas for business and was fortunate enough to stay in the new Cosmopolitan Hotel. Fabulous! Totally luxurious but done in such a way that doesn't feel pretentious. And I had an amazing view overlooking the Bellagio fountains. Delicious food, fun bars, great artwork, friendly staff...I highly recommend it.

Thursday Tidbit: La Condesa.

Do you live in Phoenix? Or are visiting soon? If so you must go to La Condesa. A gourmet taco shop on 16th Street and Palm that opened a little over a year ago. They feature a homemade salsa bar of at least ten, mouth-watering tacos, fried (yes! fried) quesadillas, and burritos. Life-changing I tell you. Seriously go now.

I think my Halloween costume this year is my favorite to date. I started looking through my closet to see what I could come up with and pretty much had everything to be a garden gnome. Green sweater, khaki vest, long jean short, bright blue tights (clearance at Target), and my sister's Ugg boots. I made a pointy red felt hat, purchased some eyebrowns and a grey beard (which I wanted to make out of grey fur but Joann did not have any). and Violia! A gnome.

I love getting mail...not bills and junk mail, but I just love getting a letter or a postcard. It is such a lost art these days so when something does arrive it just makes my day. With that said I am wondering if there is not a way to embrace the old and new. Check out the Cartolina iPhone app. I have not tried it yet, but basically there are some lovely designed templates which allow you to email or text a letter.

An email I don't find so new but receiving a "letter" text in the middle of my work day could make it that much better. Has anyone used it? Thoughts?

OMG! (I can't believe I just used that abbreviation but there are no other words to explain) Have you seen Jessica Hische?!?! She is a typographer and illustrater out of Brooklyn, NY. Her work is stunning, beautiful, awe-inspiring. The way she handles type is breath-taking. I only wish I had an ounce of her talent and the patience to draw like her. You must go check out all her work.

My Wedding Part 1 - Save the Date

This is Melissa here. I am so thrilled to finally share some images, graphic design, and projects for my wedding that was in Glasgow, Scotland. First up is my Save the Date I designed with help from my fellow Perfect Dressipier (?) Amanda! I wanted it to be whimsical and fun, to make people want to come to Scotland to share our special day with us. I printed them on Neenah Paper Sundance Cover in Ultra White felt finish paper and cut them each individually. I ordered recycled brown paper bag type envelopes from Action Envelope.

Everytime we go to Scotland, I love seeing the sheep and Highland coos. I resigned to putting them on the Save the Date, because my husband would not allow the real things at our wedding! Let me know what you think!

Suite Furniture

Have you seen some of the work by Suite New York? They have some pretty amazing pieces. One of my favorites is the leaf lounger. A very orgnaic form resembling a leaf. And then it comes with a pad that looks like one as well. So cute and I wish I could have them for my patio.

Oh its so fun to see our designs on little ones! And I do mean little. Kellan Jon is just 13 days old. He is sporting one of our bowtie onesies and looking handsomely dapper I might say!

And then there is little Liam. Liam is about 7 months old. He is sporting our blue bird onesie, tie onesie and a bowtie onesie. He is a total ladies man, but I know he loves his "da-da" lots! Check out our other designs for your little one here.

Recently, while searching for inspiration for my day job, I have become more enlightened to the world of fashion bloggers. Of course I have my staple favorite blogs that I go to everyday like Design Sponge and Design Mom, but now I have discovered new ones that I love! These ladies are very fashionable and try on looks and take photographs of them to share with the world via their blogs. Sterling Style has become my latest obsession. Taylor Sterling writes this fun blog. She is so adorable and has such a great sense of fashion. I have found out about so many new websites because of her. Also, she makes me want to be more of a fashion diva!

And then the other one that I love is Cupcakes and Cashmere. Emily out of LA writes this blog and again, she is super adorable and very fashionable. Its fun to feel like you are part of these ladies everyday life. So to Taylor and Emily...please be my friends! (wait did I say that out loud?)

They both make me want to make a living blogging and being fashionable. Enjoy!

Weird but amazing

There are so many really cool bordering on weird things out there. One of the ones I found...an eyelash typeface.

You read it correctly...a typeface created by Amitis Pahlevan out of false eyelashes. A completely different concept but I think the letters turned out beautiful.

Confetti makes me happy

A nice touch to the morning

I have seen the cocoa heart in espressos or shamrocks in Guinness but the intensity of these stencils used for coffee and desserts make me smile. I don't even drink coffee and if someone handed me one of these I would go for it! Made by Megan Herbert from Iceland, you can buy them right here. I especially love the thumbprint detail on the handle.

RFRM Jewelry

Seen on Design Mom, I fell in love with the vintage inspired jewelry of RFRM. Handmade jewelry from Kim in Chicago, it has inspired me to take a trip to the bead store and create something similar. I am in love with this particular necklace.
