Inspirational

OMG! (I can't believe I just used that abbreviation but there are no other words to explain) Have you seen Jessica Hische?!?! She is a typographer and illustrater out of Brooklyn, NY. Her work is stunning, beautiful, awe-inspiring. The way she handles type is breath-taking. I only wish I had an ounce of her talent and the patience to draw like her. You must go check out all her work.

I heart.

This series of book illustrations by Jane Mount. I wonder what it would look like if I tried to draw my books...probably not nearly as good and adorable as these. Maybe someday when spare time exists.

Need a little break?

Or a great way to start your day? Or end it? Check out the blog A Collection a Day 2010, by artist/illustrator Lisa Congdon. It is adorable and I am hooked. She posts collections of things, photographed, illustrated, or painted everyday for one year. It makes me wonder what kind of "collections" I could come up with in my house alone. What do you collect?

I'm so happy....

I stumbled upon Julia Rothman. Just looking though her stuff has made me so inspired this morning. First of all she is an illustrator, painter, and pattern designer from Brooklyn, New York.

Her work is really wonderful and makes me wish I could draw better. And today I discovered her blog, Book By It's Cover, which is basically where she shares all of the wonderful books she has seen over the years.

And lastly, in 2002 she helped start a design firm where she does the illustration, one partner the design, and another the animation. Sounds like a perfect partnership. Anyway their website is the best I have seen in a long time, so original and fun. The navigation, illustration, and simplicity is genius....and they do great work, you must check it out. Tell me you are not inspired?

Coralie Bickford-Smith

Coralie Bickford-Smith is a book cover design who has won several awards for her BEAUTIFUL designs. I first learned about her from Design*sponge when they posted her series of Penguin Classics Hardcovers (which I just received two more in the mail and they make me so happy). I love her work. How much fun would it be to just design book covers? For Penguin? In London? Sounds fabulous. You can read an interview with her here as design:related.

My Wonderful World of Fashion

I don't know how many of you are obsessed with fashion but I found the best book! It looks like so much fun and I can't wait for my copy to arrive. Seen on Cool Hunting, My Wonderful World of Fashion: A Book for Drawing, Creating, and Dreaming is the coolest coloring book ever!

It contains 272 illustrated pages by Nina Chakrabarti. She has decorated these delightful pages with such things as patterns, models, shoes, trends, flowers, jewelry and clothing...basically anything to keep a girl occupied and dreaming for quite awhile.
