RFRM Jewelry

Seen on Design Mom, I fell in love with the vintage inspired jewelry of RFRM. Handmade jewelry from Kim in Chicago, it has inspired me to take a trip to the bead store and create something similar. I am in love with this particular necklace.

P.S. Really loving the graphics and happy friday!

The best chocolates ever!

Being at the end of this week is Valentine's Day...chocolate is on my mind. The best chocolates I have ever recieved are by a small company out of Bainbridge Island, Washington called Pink Peony Chocolates. This chocolatier is run by two women, two women that hand make, roll, and dip every single individual truffles. Donesn't that sound crazy and heavenly at the same time!

And another great thing about their shop...they have over 20 flavors and are always adding more. My favorites are the Milk Chocolate Caramel, Coconut Carmelicious, and Mocha, and the PB & Jam, and Passion Fruit, and Lemon...the list goes on and on. To see the most up to date flavors, download the legend. To place your own custom order call 206.842.4761.

Found another Piggy Bank!

How awesome is this one I found in the Cool Hunting Gift Guide. Th bank is by Touch, a company who partners with designers to create things handmade not mass-produced (great idea!) The Drop piggy bank is by a designer in Portugal and I am admiring the colors as I try to decide which one I will get someday. I'm leaning towards aqua or yellow...what do you think?

They have two styles and offers different types of wood...maple, wenge, and zebrawood. I have been thinking about them for quite some time which means it's time I order them.

More great piggy banks

Or elephant bank. Have you seen this Jonathan Adler ceramic animal piggy bank. To die for! Beautiful lines, bold geometric patterns, and clean colors. If you do not know about Jonathan Adler..."Jonathan Adler pottery begins its life in our Soho studio, where Jonathan and his team design and sculpt every prototype. The product you are viewing is produced by skilled artisans at our main workshop in Peru. They make molds from our prototypes and then hand craft each piece from high-fired stoneware or porcelain. Our Peruvian workshop was found through Aid to Artisans, a non-profit organization that connects designers in America with artisans in developing countries to promote fair trade." You should check out some of his other pieces too. He has a very distinct style that is one of a kind.

Awesome quilts!

Continuing on with the fabric theme I had to share these amazing quilts by Emily Fischer of Haptic Lab.

"Soft Maps are quilted maps of neighborhoods and parks that represent someone's unique place in the city." They are beautiful.

She offers two options...one that is machine quilted and made with cotton. The others are handmade, taking over a month and use organic cotton and silk. Need I say that I want one.

I also adore these map pillows made from appliques small pieces of fabric. When reading more about the studio I wondered why haptic? Here is an explanation ""Haptic" refers to the sense of touch that includes the entire body, inside and out; it is also the mechanism we employ to situate our bodies in space. Like a cane that safely guides someone down the sidewalk, haptic projects serve as tools for sensation." She said it so well. I applaud Emily's talent and she sounds like the most interesting person. I would bet she would be a great person to meet.

Fun side project

A co-worker of ours asked me to custom make her a book as a gift for her parents 40th wedding anniversary.

The theme was ruby and she wanted something that her and her sisters could put cards, photos, letters, etc. in.

All handmade, handsewn and with custom graphics.

It turned out beautiful!

Beautiful Couture Show

I just saw this yesterday on Poppytalk and have never seen a runway show more beautiful and I am not talking about the clothes. Look at the runway and interiors themselves.

At the Chanel Couture 2009 Runway Show the entire space was covered in handmade paper flowers.

Everything was covered...from the 32 columns, stairways, table rounds, and railings.

The article reports the 7000 flowers took 4800 hours of work. It makes me so happy that someone had the patience and grand idea to see this through. It is absolutely stunning.

More details and photos can be found here.
