Papernstitch

Have you seen papernstitch? It is a curated marketplace for handmade goods, arts, etc. etc. It takes the best of Etsy and showcases them and then links to the original shops. It is wonderful because let's be honest there is just WAY TOO much on Etsy. Look at these great finds I saw this week.

Wonderful bags by Quote Bag Studio.

This ring I look at everyday by Dillon Designs.

And this poster that makes me so happy by Dee Adams.

All about metal.

Since I was younger I have always had a love for boxes...anything that I could store stuff in. It didn't matter if they were jewelry boxes or cardboard, I simply loved getting and collecting them. In the past couple years I have found myself drawn to metal boxes. Why? I have no idea but I already have quite a collection and am always looking to expand it. Check out these lovelies....

1950's Metal Lunchbox found on Etsy (It reminds me of an airstream and I giggle) P.S. There is a whole plethora on Etsy...What a treasure trove!

An old Army Amo Can from a surplus store. (I think I am going to make a field trip to one this weekend)

Or these new lovely, bright metal trunks from CB2...decisions, decisions about which color to get.

Mouse Path

I spotted this on Design Mom and just HAD to try it. I would have never thought about the beauty of your everyday mouse path. Above is mine from yesterday and I think a series would make great office artwork. The program developed by Anatoly Zenkov, tracks your mouse paths, clicks, and idling with a series of lines and circles. You can find out more about it here.

Tape, tape, tape

As mentioned before I love tape. So you can imagine how much fun I have looking at tinted mint. They have so many fun tape related things. 1. I would love to have this tape dispenser with all of these fabulous tapes.

2. I am particularity drawn to these Old Text tapes and Plaid ones.

Shoe Heaven

Any die-hard shoe fanatic probably has or wishes to own a pair of Christian Louboutin. There is just something magical about those red soles. What do you think about this pair, Beaute Strass? I think they would be a good first pair by the one and only.

Wonderful new blog

I love discvering new places to check up on daily. A new great place is The Violet Hours. Um how wonderful are these posts about vintage suitcases? And balloons? I am seriously the happiest person right now.

Divine!

What a great idea this is! Spotted on Design Mom, check out this poster by Simon Evans titled "Everything I Have". I want to to this but I think it would be quite a timely effort. Maybe just try to take on a single room?

In the Yard!

Our last In the Yard event was so lovely! As always Rachel at Bunky Boutique was a great host. The weather was beautiful, we got to meet the fabulous new members of PHX DIY and sold a few things in the process. If you weren't able to make it here's a little video of an awesome little boy who showed us his PHX DIY spirit!

Thanks to everyone who came out! Can't wait to see you next time.

Happy photography

Don't these pictures just make you feel giddy?!?!? I wish I had a very large print in my house.

By Joshua Scott

Keep Calm Gallery

I'm sure a lot of you have seen the "Keep Calm and Carry On" posters that are popping up everywhere but have you looked at what else the Keep Calm Gallery has to offer? They have some truly beautiful prints and home items.

They started in January 2007 by Jucas Lepola and Haley Thwaites because of their "passion for typography in poster design, British heritage and the medium of screenprinting." I want to work there...pretty please.

Fabulous Blog

I just discovered Mrs. Lilian Styling House and it is so much fun. There is a theme every post and then the writer styles to match. I am seriously in love with Mrs. Lilian. She is divine and such a wonderful stylist. The blog is fantastic but you should also check out the eye candy...I drooled.

Blinging in the Rain is one of my favorites.

All about doilies

Doilies are pretty fun. I think making them is quite an art. I remember growing up with handmade ones by my great grandmother and how beautiful the intricate details were. And I think doilies are making a comeback..in a very modern and unexpected way.

I LOVE this giant doily rug by Ladies & Gentlemen and I am most definitely going to buy their book, Crafting a Meaningful Home by Meg Mateo Ilasco, when it comes out in the fall just so I can make this.

How about some rubber doily coasters? Check out these adorable ones by Gretel.

And then why not make your own doily object. Use this tutorial by paper n stitch to spruce up some things around your house. Maybe I'll try this one out this weekend.

Just plain pretty

There are seriously just too many cool things out there.

Eunsuk Hur's fabric that is laser cut, acid printed and etched.

Bone china Hanging Leaves by Swedish designers Maria Larsson and Maria Olevik.

Wooden tape dispensers by Tinted Mint and pretty tape (p.s. I LOVE tape...my mom used to give it to me for Christmas and birthday presents)

Didoni font cookie cutters by Tove Hedman.

Helvetica cookie cutters by Beverly Hsu.

Just plain cute

How wonderful are all of these things from Present & Correct.

Smile print, Italian Staplers, Button card, Cup of Tea card, Keyboard brush, Spin calendar. There are so many fun things there, it was hard to pick a few.

Pretty Photography

I am in love with this photography. It is so pretty and whimsical and just makes me be in a better mood. Lola's Room Photography is out of Brighton, UK. She makes the everyday things look plain awe-inspiring. And I just love this quote about her..."I took up photography as a hobby in 2006. When I treated myself to a Holga camera, photography became an obsession."

All things bikes

I love my bike, and I can't say it enough so here are some pretty awesome accessories.

Lovely helmets by Ruby in Paris.

Helmet by Yakkay.

Bicycle necklace.

Areaware

Have you seen Areaware? They are based out of NYC and manufacture and distribute design products. They have everything from kitchen to baby to office to just plain cool things that you will think "I must have that". I have seen them before (see the radios I posted earlier) and below are some of my new favorite items from them.

Forget me knot ring. $50.

Elongated rattle. $70

Mechano chair. $500.

The best chocolates ever!

Being at the end of this week is Valentine's Day...chocolate is on my mind. The best chocolates I have ever recieved are by a small company out of Bainbridge Island, Washington called Pink Peony Chocolates. This chocolatier is run by two women, two women that hand make, roll, and dip every single individual truffles. Donesn't that sound crazy and heavenly at the same time!

And another great thing about their shop...they have over 20 flavors and are always adding more. My favorites are the Milk Chocolate Caramel, Coconut Carmelicious, and Mocha, and the PB & Jam, and Passion Fruit, and Lemon...the list goes on and on. To see the most up to date flavors, download the legend. To place your own custom order call 206.842.4761.

If you love ampersands

Did you know there is a blog dedicated to 365 days of Ampersands. There are some delicious ones on there. My favorites from the previous weeks are below.

Fun book stuff

Are you a reader? I wish I had more time to do so. But I do love anything that has to do with great design and books.

Liquid bookmark by Kouichi Okamoto of Kyouei Design.

A handy invention called the Thumbthing for those readers who like to hold the book open with one hand.

And the best book jacket/bookmark combination EVER by designer Igor "Rogix" Udushlivy! I really do hope someone picks these up because I want one!
